Some people pay a lot of attention to seating arrangements and options while planning their wedding, some don’t make a fuss about it. The thing is that sometimes all is done for you as the managers of the venue are offering their own (of course) standard tables and chairs to use and you just agree with whatever look these have. However, if the seating arrangement requires some special elements like ghost chairs for example, things become tricky. Then the couple needs to source this kind of different chairs and rent them.
With the overall effect corona virus had on weddings, it seems these events will be more intimate at least for a while. Because of that huge venues will lose their clientele probably, and couples will need to think more about how and, more importantly, on what to sit their dear quests. To be honest I am very happy that small backyard or park weddings will become more desirable and popular and I want to use opportunity to offer few different seating options for that kind of intimate celebrations. They are budget friendly, sustainable and… well, quite unique!
Eclectic arrangement
Last summer I had been assisting in the wedding which took place in the old castle located in Southern Ireland. For the intimate seated reception we’ve used the old chairs from few castle rooms (gosh, they’ve been quite heavy to carry though…). All of them have been wooden, yet all looked different from each other. And when we put them together around the tables, this eclectic arrangement of chairs was just beautiful. So please don’t be scared to mix & match different chairs for your seated reception. Eclectic really can be beautiful. Yes, you can bravely mix the different chairs you have at home, summer residence or your grandma’s place etc.
The good advice here could be to stick to the same material of which the chair is made i.e. wooden or metal. This will make things easier and will let to prevent making your reception more messy than eclectic.
What about benches?
I mean, why not? First, benches are not only for rustic wedding (I don’t know why people have a tendency to think so). They can be a great option even for modern wedding depending on their style. On top of that, benches are a great option if your space is limited. Did you know that a bench can seat up to 3 people in the space you might only be able to fit 2 chairs? And last but not least, if you don’t own any benches, it’s not complicated to make a few yourself (there are lots of tutorials online). Later you can simply reuse those benches for your outdoor parties!
Picnic style
I believe that this option is the most unique and uncommon. And it is definitely not for everyone. But maybe it was exactly what you’ve been looking for your intimate wedding reception? I mean, you and your friends usually are sitting on the huge pillows in your living room anyway, so?
