An ode to the candle centerpiece

Are you always on the look out for candles? Are you a real candle lover? Great, use them to decorate your wedding day! The best way to do that is to make a candle centerpiece.

Yes, I know almost everyone does that but what I meant was… use ONLY candles. Because more often than not wedding tables are decorated with floral arrangements as main focal points and between them few candlesticks with taper candles and/or few candle votives are scattered. However, if one would think logically, in this case neither flowers, neither candles have their impact at the highest level. Now imagine the candle sea in the middle of your wedding table. Beautiful, yes? As well as simple and sustainable!

Any whys?

Well, candlesticks and candle votives are reusable. (Whereas a lot of fresh flowers arrangements usually are not reused. On top of that, they include flower foam which is not biodegradable.) You can buy all the candle holders or rent them, but whatever option you will choose, the items still can be reused. Moreover, I have another great idea for you! Are you two the lovers of good vine? Ha-ha, I know, now you are curious how this topic is connected with candles. Very much indeed! Imagine keeping empty bottles and reusing them as candle holders. Of course, now you’ve got me, right? This sustainable approach can definitely save you some cash! And instead of traditional candle votives you can use different pieces of glassware (the ones yourself and your family members simply have at home).

Talking about nature of candles themselves, please consider using eco-friendly and toxic-free candles. By the way, the Make it last team made pretty good list what ingredients to look for while choosing your more sustainable candles. It’s worth to check!

A little (scented) bonus

Oh and you can even take this candle centerpiece idea further: consider giving a small scented candle as a unique and thoughtful gift for each guest to take home. Of course, there are some people who don’t like burning candles, but majority seems to like them and at least according Forbes magazine these solid blocks of wax with an embedded wick make the ultimate gifts. So it seems there is some serious acclaim for candles (especially natural and organic ones) out there!

P.S. Please always check with your venue in advance if it is allowed to use candles in their premises and please follow the health & safety requirements at all times.
