Just another interpretation of ‘something old’

It all started from thought about antique typewriter…

Are you truly superstitious? Yes, you know what I mean, dear. “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a silver sixpence in her shoe“… That’s such an old and charming English rhyme which is known to almost every bride. It means that bride should wear or care with her four objects: old, new, borrowed and blue (as the sixpence coin no longer circulates) on the big day. According Huffington Post, these small personal goods are unique to each bride and rarely obvious to anyone but those who know her most. Now… let’s be creative and find some inspiration here. Maybe this British custom shouldn’t only reflect in the bridal clothes and accessories?? Let’s use them (well, at least something old part) for the wedding venue decorations. Yes, you can use that peeled but still lovely table or chair that belonged to your great grandmother, this old enamelled teapot or beautiful ancient dishes from grandparent’s farm, crochet napkins which were made by your mother, the father’s suitcase which he used when he was your age, your sister’s childhood books and so on… By the way, it is believed that these old, new, borrowed and blue objects are good luck charms. Well, I sincerely believe that if you’ll have some things that belonged (or still belongs) to people you cherish the most (and they cherish or cherished you as well) near you on your wedding day this definitely will bring the best luck ever. It is said that something old represents continuity. I believe that nowadays we all sometimes lack for connection with our past and our family, don’t we? We all hurry to live and, more important, to live independently. Life goes like a bullet, too fast… So it’s chance to stop for a minute, right? Moreover, (believe me or not) these vintage goods will become the greatest decor details ever. What do you think about this interpretation?

P.S. An idea to write this post was born when I was talking with my colleague about that where I can find an antique typewriter for sale. Maybe one of your grandparents was a writer? Ha ha!! Just kidding. It’s crazy how we can get inspired, right??

Catch your inspiration!
