A friendly disclaimer:
I understand that a sustainable and eco-conscious choice not to use any kind of excessively decorated man-made ceremony backdrop (an arch, any kind of floral arrangements, a mandap etc.) is not for everyone and for some people the pictures I’ve chosen for this post could look like taken out of the context or just taken at the very beginning of the set up process of the ceremony place. But my soul just sings when I see these kind of pictures and I even want to cry of happiness. Each of these landscapes chosen by the couples to be the one and only backdrop for their ceremony is simply breathtaking! But image is worth a thousand words, isn’t it? So let me try to use some jaw drop worthy pictures to prove my truth to you this time!

Are these just too minimal for you?
Or maybe you just don’t want to get married by the water? OK, I feel you. Let’s look for different kind of landscape then. The best advice then would be to choose a natural focal ceremony point in the centre of a nice field, for example, a large rock, a spectacular tree or… two trees which will form your natural wedding ‘arch’!

Still missing some man-made elements?
That’s completely fine, just try to decorate your landscape background with minimalism in mind. Otherwise you will be risking to overshadow the natural beauty. For example, you can carefully decorate the central tree (like in the picture above) or add some simple central structures in the ceremony area in matching colours and textures (couple great examples below).

Planning to have an outdoor ceremony in autumn?
Great! Just imagine the beauty of those vivid colours around you! You know what, even in winter when there are no leaves and greenery the natural landscape backdrop (with some minimal additions) can look amazing. Don’t believe me? Well, check this one out:
So I’ve convinced you, but you are probably not sure how to choose the right and the most authentic landscape for you.
Well, my friends, that’s totally up to you. I just will share few things to consider. Maybe you’ve met each other on the beach? Perhaps you have your personal spot in the local nature reserve? Or maybe he asked you to marry him during your vacation in the lake house? Although the local laws and requirements to have a legal ceremony vary depending on the country, more often than not you can get a permit from the local authorities to hold at least symbolic ceremony in your desired spot. So even the strangest places should be considered. By the way, usually these ones are the most spectacular!
