Mood board | The Natural Luxe Tablescape

Hello, my dear friends!

Now, (after last week’s challenge to make a backdrop with no money), the question is… drum roll please… is it possible to combine the two concepts – ”natural” and ”luxurious” – in the same design? Can one find a balance between eco-friendly and luxury? Is it possible to embrace natural environment and at the same time to indulge in opulence, elegance and good taste?

OK then… Shall we give it a try?

Well, where should I start..? Maybe with

Tables and linens:

For this design large rectangular whitewash tables (8’ long, 48’’ wide) were chosen. 8 guests would be seated at each table (it is possible to seat 10 guests at a table, but I would like to have more spacious seatings). I imagined, that I have a venue big enough to form few extra long tables by joining two or three tables together one after the other. Ideally that would be an outdoor venue. Ech, those romantic outdoor weddings…

As this design is mainly about natural materials, tablecloths wouldn’t be used. Would be a crime to cover this nice whitewashed wood! However, there would be a 100% cotton table runner in the middle of a table. As the colour palete of this design is made from off white, natural browns, yellow gold, natural greens and some blue accents, the runner would be made using tie-dye technique and dark blue dye (trend alert, ha ha!). Tie-dye technique seems quite important trend in fashion industry for SS19. To compliment the runner, dark blue plant dyed linen napkins would be used.

Tableware:

Trying to use more of natural and so called high-end materials, real leather charger plates would be chosen (for the sake of happiness of all living beings, I would choose to use recycled leather). Natural colour stoneware and blue glassware would compliment the owerall design. To add some luxury feeling, matte gold cutlery would be used.

Centerpieces:

I didn’t want traditional ’sweet’ florals for this design, especially with sustainability being one of the biggest trends this year! I was seeking for something non-traditional and natural looking, though could not find the pictures of exact arrangements I would like to see on the table. To create a dramatic look, I imagined tall floral centerpieces in transparent tall glass containers (for minimally obstructed view). I was thinking about some mixed grasses from summer fields which would be put into the original shape transparent tall vases, like the one in the main picture of the mood board (no more those boring common cylinder vases, please). I would also like to add some edgy dried florals, like big palm leaves into these arrangements. These tall floral arrangements would be accompanied by tall Tuscan-wash wooden candlesticks (in slightly different sizes) with cream candles to finish this design of tall centerpieces.

To add more visual interest, sense of flow and a feeling of rhythm horizontally across these extra long tables (and to save money as well), the number of tall centerpieces would be restricted and I would space them through the long tables while putting low centerpieces to fill the gaps. These would be some smaller floral arrangements – some fresh greenery, white flowers and blue berries put separately in brown glass bottles (they would serve as bud vases actually). The design would be completed with golden votives in different shapes put in groups of three.

And, finally, chairs:

Table design is not finished without chairs, is it? I would like to use brown French wooden chairs with a warm patina. I imagined soft parts of the chair covered with some off white natural fabric with a subtle blue hint, like a blue line in the middle. Actually, something like this breathtaking makeover from missmustardseed.com.

Well, as you can see, no simple thing here… And all the details are quite pricey as well, but that was the goal, wasn’t it? Anyway, please let me know what you think about this design in the comments! Maybe we can make an earth-friendly but, on the other hand, super elegant and high-end project together!

Cheers!
