You know me: I am rarely writing about guests favours. Why..? Well, I am considering them a luxury addition to the wedding itself and BGW is more about less extravagant, more modest and earth-friendly celebrations. However, I must admit that these miniature glass bottles of herb infused olive oil just conquered my heart! Ech, I just gave up!.. This idea seems very sustainable for me, as at least the tasty, home-made olive oil can be used to season your salad for tasty lunch! Way better than just give another peace of plastic or metal souvenir to your guest. Probably it will end in the landfill or will be destined to collect dusts on the self for at least five years anyway…

CHOOSE THE TASTE

Staying in spectacular Sardinia by the blue Mediterranean sea at the moment, I had an extraordinary opportunity so far to try some super tasty home-made olive oils. These are the best ones I have ever tasted, honestly! Few infused ones have reached my plate as well. I especially liked garlic infused olive oil (well, we eat a lot of garlic in my country, you know, ha ha…) If you don’t like garlic, you can use rosemary, thyme, lemon, basil, chilli or sage (or actually whichever herb or spices you love!). So this is a very good chance to personalise your gifts and make them reflect the couples’ taste. For example, if both of you are in love with spicy food, chilli oil is just a perfect option.

DO IT YOURSELF

Moreover, the infused olive oil is just super easy to prepare! Please check this guide how to make three most popular types of infused oil (chilli, rosemary and lemon) on modernfoostores.com. I’ve chosen this one because the methods are described in such a detail and clarity that it is impossible to do something wrong! But if you want, you can find the other recipes on the Internet very easy – who thought that infused olive oil is so so popular, ha ha! Anyway, different kinds of these infused babies are usually made the same way: you need to put chopped herbs or other ingredients into extra virgin olive oil, seal the container and keep it in a dark, cool place at least for one week. Then you just need a lot or two of nice cute glass bottles with corks and some custom made labels to add and…

Taa – daaa!

FOR A MEDITERRANEAN WEDDING (AND DIET)

Needless to say, this idea is perfect for a stylish olive grove wedding or if you decided to throw a Mediterranean style celebration at the outside venue with the decor of olive branches and fairy light canopy above the heads. And, of course, this infused olive oil could be a super meaningful keepsake for your guests if you are having a destination wedding in Italy, Spain, Turkey or in any other Mediterranean country where olives grow spontaneously and the olive oil cult is sometimes stronger than the local religion…
