Sweet gifts from uncle Autumn

Dessert table for a wedding. Cake, cupcakes, sweetness and flowe

Love is sweet as hell…

Sooo… this time I would like to talk about desserts. Here it is: the autumnal sweet table (in the image above, of course). And now, how does the seasonality manifest here? First of all – with vivid red and burgundy tones, starting from tablecloth and ending with pile of fruits of the same colour range. The idea about all this decor is great because sun kissed apples, grapes, pomegranates, figs and various autumnal berries like raspberries, cowberries and cranberries not only combine colourfully, but also are edible and, more important, delicious. It‘s glad to know that these days we see more and more goodies of Mother Nature on the various sweet tables more frequently instead of those greasy cakes, too sweet muffins with dozens chocolate creams of different flavours and overdone (those brown inside) „tree cakes“ („sakotis“ in Lithuanian language). If you are tired of all these dainties full of useful calories, you should use the fruity idea till the end and choose refreshing fruity cake. Well, to sum up everything, you‘ll kill two birds with one stone. Uf, no, actually three birds at once (it’s just a saying, I‘m not encouraging you to hurt animals)! It will be beautiful, and tasty, and certainly healthier than those ordinary desserts full of chemical additives.

Oh, well, I‘ve almost forgotten… I also should say some good words about few symbols mentioned above. Red always was a symbol of love and passion and it‘s not a secret at all, right? But what about symbolism of figs and pomegranates? The first ones from ancient times are known as the symbol of femininity and fertility. Moreover, these flavourful fruits are usually called powerful aphrodisiacs. With fertility, without any doubt, humanity for many years associates pomegranate as well. This quite big fruit full of little seeds is a part of old traditions in some parts of the world. For example, in Greece pomegranates are still smashed at weddings as a symbol of good luck. If you would ask about grapes I should answer that I have read that these fruits often appeared in Roman art and not without a reason. It is said that they symbolized pleasures and wealth. Maybe it is worth lo leave some space on wedding table for these beauties as well? And yes, of course, we can see beautiful red apple in the first plan of the image above. It is said that these fruits symbolize love, peace, wisdom and knowledge. Aren’t these – let‘s say simple: attributes – we all need for unbreakable marriage? I guess that the author of this decor was aware of ancient mythologies and symbolism. Or maybe it‘s only a coincidence, who knows…

By the way, that fig on the top of the cake looks nicer than the expensive artificial rose formed from sugar mass… and more delicious!
