Well, there are couple of reasons I can think about. However, to introduce both of them I have to do nothing but to tell you a short story (I am sorry, ha ha).
We celebrated my grandma’s birthday two weeks ago. And old friend of hers came to visit us. She actually is my grandma’s official ‘let’s go for a walk in the local park’ companion. Every day they go for a walk and it actually doesn’t matter if it is raining, snowing (oh hello, winter) or if it is super windy (very persistent ladies, you know). So, the guest was telling me all the funny stories about my grandma on the road. For example, if during the walk in the park she sees a broken tree branch in the middle of the pavement, she always picks it up and throw it on the grass field. The reason behind this is to protect other people, especially the oldest ones, because they can easily stumble and fall down (oh my kind-hearted grandma). And then I said that I usually act differently in this kind of situation. I just pick up the branch and bring it home with me (i.e. to make some kind of art from it). Both ladies laughed from me so much. But the thing is that I was not joking, ha ha. I really do like that from time to time. And I used to behave like that since I was a little girl (poor grandma knows this very well).
That all said, the reason Number 1 (for picking up that random broken tree branch) is obviously being kind and cleaning the pathway for other pedestrians.
And the reason Number 2 is…
To use it as table centrepiece for a winter wedding! For example:
Yes, I know. It’s not for everyone. Definitely not for those brides who are in love with luxurious, huge centrepieces on the top of tall clear glass vases or lush runners of eucalyptus. But I believe that there are people who would like this kind of approach. Moreover, you can kill two birds with one stone and assign even more meaning for this kind of bigger branches. You can be brave and use these as candlesticks! See how tall candles are attached to the branch? However, please be very careful about venue requirements and health & safety issues. Probably because of the risk of fire and dripping wax you couldn’t light the candles installed in this way. However, there is still an idea to use them as decorations. And they can even be burned (or melted) a bit already. You can simply reuse old candles! That’s eco-friendly approach in its purest form!
